The Delaware Safety Council offers both basic and advanced defensive driving courses in the classroom and online 24/7. Upon completion, each participant will receive a 10% (basic) or 15% (advanced) reduction on the liability portion of their insurance as well as a 3 point credit on their Delaware motor vehicle license. Our defensive driving courses are currently held at various classroom locations throughout the State of Delaware.

CPR/AED & First Aid Training

The Delaware Safety Council will be holding a CPR/AED & First Aid certification training on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 9:00am -4:00pm at the DSC Training Facility, located at 2 Reads Way, Suite 205 New Caste, DE 19720. 

Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) certification card valid for 2 years.

Goodwill’s Family Strengthening and Wellness Fair

The Delaware Safety Council participated in Goodwill's Family Strengthening and Wellness Fair which took place Thursday, June 20th at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware. 

Over 500 employees attended the event, each employee was encouraged to visit the vendors. The  Delaware Safety Council spoke with a number of representatives about safety in the workplace, in the home, on the highway, and in the community.

Safety programs and giveaways were provided by the Delaware Safety Council, including pencils, pens, cups, rulers as well as defensive driving rack cards and schedules. Informational flyers on CPR/First Aid and Babysitting courses were also included. 

The Delaware Safety Council networked with several organizations that were also in attendance that day such as Delaware 211, New York Life Insurance, Food Bank of Delaware, and Public Allies.

Separation Day 2013

The Delaware Safety Council was happy to be part of Separation Day on Saturday, June 8, 2013. The light rain at the start of the day had community members questioning whether or not the even would even take place. However,  the weather let up, and the event turned out to be a success.

Throughout the day, Delaware Safety Council provided information to the community on safety training programs, like defensive driving, First Aid and CPR/AED, and Flagger training. Representatives from community organizations also inquired about membership opportunities and its benefits.

There were about a dozen nonprofit organizations in attendance, however Delaware Safety Council was the only organization that promoted highway safety by offering informative materials to community members on a number of topics ranging from the dangers of texting and driving to driving under the influence.

The Delaware Safety Council would like to extend a huge thanks to the City of New Castle and its staff for inviting us to be part of Separation Day!

Point-to-Point At Winterthur

The Delaware Safety Council was honored to partner with Winterthur at the Point-to-Point event held on Sunday, May 5, 2013.  The blue cloudless horizon was the perfect backdrop as guests dressed in colorful sundresses and crisp suits entered the infield where DSC’s Designated Driver booth was located.
 

Point-to-Point attendees that signed the Designated Driver pledge at the DSC booth received bottled water, a free raffle “wager”, and information about the role and significance of the designated driver.  By signing the pledge, designated drivers reinforced their proactive role in keeping the roads safe.
 

The Delaware Safety Council would like to extend a huge thanks to Winterthur for inviting us to promote driving safety at a wonderful event!

Boating Safety Course Scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2013

The Delaware Safety Council will be holding a comprehensive 8-hour classroom Boating Safety Course taught by certified instructors fully sanctioned by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). The course will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Successful completion of this course is MANDATORY for persons born after January 1, 1978, in order to operate a boat or jet ski on Delaware waters. After successfully completing the course, students will receive a Delaware Safe Boating Certificate.

The course fee is $30.00. Family and corporate discounts are available. The course will be held at the DSC Training Facility, located at 2 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.

Child and Babysitting Safety Course Scheduled for April 20, 2013!!

The Delaware Safety Council will hold its Child and Babysitting Safety Course on Saturday April 20, 2013 at our New Castle training facility. Spread the word to your 11-13 year old children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews that are interested in babysitting! The information babysitters learn in this course increases their assurance in keeping children safe and healthy.

This course will familiarize and provide young adults with basic skill training and information that is necessary in caring for infants and children, such as emergency action steps, personal safety, fire safety, infant care, basic first aid, and choking management.
 
Students will receive a Certification of Achievement earned at the completion of the course.

The Delaware Safety Council is offering an additional ATSSA Flagger Certification Class

Due to high demand, the Delaware Safety Council (DSC) will be offering a third flagger certification class in April. In addition to our April 11th class (which is now full) and our April 23rd class. DSC will be offering a class on Wednesday April 17, 2013. The class begins promptly at 9:00am and ends at 1:00pm. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required.
